Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival runs late August through mid-November. Dozens of food booths open around World Showcase, each representing a different country or culinary theme, and the lineup changes every year with new offerings alongside perennial favorites.

Visiting the festival is one thing. Staying within walking distance of Epcot for a week of it is a different experience entirely.

Why Resort Proximity Changes Everything

The festival booths open at 11 AM and run until park close. If you're staying off-property or at a resort requiring a long bus commute, you're committing to a full day at Epcot when you go. You eat lunch, walk the booths, buy some food and drinks, and eventually leave because the commute home is a factor in how long you stay.

When you're within a 5-minute walk of the International Gateway entrance, the festival becomes something you can drop into for two hours in the evening, go back to the room for a rest, and return for the late-night atmosphere around the lagoon. The casual, flexible access changes how you experience the event.

The Best DVC Resorts for Food and Wine

Three DVC resorts offer walking access to the Epcot International Gateway: Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Riviera.

Beach Club is the 5-minute walk option. Through the resort grounds, past Stormalong Bay, and through the gate into Epcot. You don't even feel like you've left the resort campus. For Food and Wine festival stays, this is the most convenient option for access speed.

Boardwalk takes about 7-8 minutes along the waterfront promenade. The walk itself is pleasant, especially in the evening when Boardwalk entertainers are out. Walking home from Epcot via the Boardwalk, stopping for a nightcap at AbracadaBar or a slice from Boardwalk Bakery, becomes part of the evening routine.

Riviera has Skyliner access to Epcot, which takes about 8 minutes by gondola. The ride is fun and scenic. The tradeoff is that the Skyliner runs until park close, but you're dependent on its schedule and there can be lines during peak times. For the Food and Wine festival, some guests find the walk from Beach Club or Boardwalk more convenient than the gondola connection.

Best Times to Visit During the Festival

The festival opens in late August when the initial booths launch. New booths and menu items typically appear in September and October. The festival experience is at its best in October, when new offerings have been added but before the holiday crowds start building in late November.

Weekday evenings between 6 and 9 PM are the best time to work through the booths, with manageable crowds and the full festival atmosphere. Weekend afternoons can be significantly busier.

Which DVC resort is closest to Epcot's Food and Wine Festival?

Beach Club Villas offers the shortest walk to Epcot's International Gateway entrance, about 5 minutes through the resort grounds. Boardwalk Villas is about 7-8 minutes along the Crescent Lake promenade. Riviera Resort connects via the Skyliner gondola in about 8 minutes. All three give you easy back-and-forth access throughout the day.

When does Epcot's Food and Wine Festival run?

The festival typically runs from late August through mid-November, spanning about 11-12 weeks. The exact dates vary by year. October is generally considered the sweet spot: new booths have opened, the weather is starting to cool down in Central Florida, and the holiday crowds haven't arrived yet.
